We’re supporting Greensand Country as the Key Festival Sponsor

We’re delighted to be supporting Greensand Country as the Key Festival Sponsor for 2021.

Greensand Country is a beautiful and well-loved landscape defined by the Greensand Ridge, a band of higher ground stretching from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay, which rises out of the surrounding vales to create a locally unique environment. The area is home to all of Bedfordshire’s remaining heathland, more than half of its woodland and more historical parklands than anywhere else in Britain.

A partnership of organisations, landowners and communities have worked together to deliver an exciting array of 90 projects for the Greensand Country.  These projects are helping raise awareness of this distinctive, special and loved Greensand Country landscape and reverse the decline in its distinct character and special qualities.

This strong and diverse partnership is called the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership and together they have achieved a string of successes for your area.

The Greensand Country Festival, held each May, is a celebration of Greensand Country. Local businesses, councils, charities, landowners and more come together and hold events that help you get out and explore this distinct and beautiful countryside on your doorstep. There are a variety of events for all ages and interests.

Greensand Country’s values align perfectly with our own, as we’re both focused on protecting the environment whilst addressing the evolving needs of local communities and businesses.

At Mulberry Homes, our award-winning approach to developments is based on enhancing locations whilst using the most sustainable options for building. As part of our industry-leading ‘The Mulberry Way’ initiative, gardens, communal spaces, landscaping and electric car charging ports are all considered in the design process. The initiative promotes environmental positivity whilst adding to the community’s sense of wellbeing.

Throughout 2020, we ran our Distinctly Local campaign, which operated in a similar way to Greensand Country’s festival by supporting local businesses, social groups and charities. Every month, we donated to two organisations nearby to our developments and awarded two of our residents with £200 worth of vouchers for local businesses, such as cafés, farm shops, florists, butchers and bakeries.

Kerry Jones, Sales Director at Mulberry Homes, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting Greensand Country as this year’s Key Festival Sponsor. At Mulberry Homes, we’re committed to supporting and forging lasting partnerships within the Bedfordshire communities amongst which we operate, including those within the Greensand Country area.

“The Greensand Country runs directly through the villages where our developments are located, from Leighton Buzzard, to Maulden and ending nearby to Potton, with our other Bedfordshire developments situated nearby in Lower Stondon, Clifton and Graze Hill. The walk through the Greensand Country takes locals between our sites, so the decision to support Greensand Country was a no-brainer!

“Both us at Mulberry Homes and Greensand Country put the local community at the heart of all its operations, whilst incorporating a range of sustainable and ethical practices. We couldn’t be happier to be working with the wonderful Greensand Country Landscape Partnership, and are very proud to be a part of this incredible festival.”

Claire Poulton, the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership Programme Manager says ‘As we start looking forward to the Greensand Country Festival this May, we are delighted to welcome Mulberry Homes as our key Festival sponsor for 2021.

This has enabled us to reach out to many more people to tell them about this ‘green oasis’ of peace and quiet, rolling countryside and breath-taking views that makes up Greensand Country.  It is a place where people feel able to slow down, unwind and connect with nature. It is somewhere to escape urban life, breathe easy and feel uplifted’.   ‘We would like to thank Mulberry Homes for supporting us to do this’.
