Corby Leisure Scheme is recognised for “Architectural Excellence”

Mulberry Developments has proudly accepted an award for Architectural Excellence for their leisure development based in Corby, the Savoy Cinema and Restaurant complex on George Street.

The award was presented on Thursday 29th September at the 2016 Insider East Midlands Property Dinner which is an annual event to celebrate and promote the best of the region’s property sector. Judges felt that the facility “is a great example of good design having a regenerating impact on its community.”

Mulberry Developments started work on the leisure scheme back in 2014. The cinema and restaurant complex opened its doors to the public in early summer 2015 and has since been extremely popular. The building compliments its neighbouring facilities, the Corby Cube and Corby East Midlands International Pool, and is the third signature building in the town centre.

Mark Day, Development Director of Mulberry Developments, said: “Local Corby residents chose the unique curved shape design by NBDA Architects by public vote back in 2011 so it is fantastic to see the scheme awarded for architectural excellence. We are incredibly proud to have developed the Savoy Cinema and Restaurant complex which acts as another piece of the successful Corby regeneration jigsaw.”

Leader of Corby Borough Council, Cllr Tom Beattie, said: “This is fantastic news and a much deserved award. The Savoy complex has brought real character and more life to this area of Corby ever since it came to completion over a year ago. I’m over the moon that the leisure complex has been given recognition and I don’t doubt that the cinema and its surrounding restaurants will continue to attract people from all over the borough and its surrounding areas.”
