Luxury homebuilder Mulberry Homes has donated £1,000 to assist a charity for seriously ill children with their goals of establishing a specialist nurse in Suffolk. Mulberry Homes are building in the county at its Mulberry Homes at Badwell Ash development.
Mulberry Homes at Badwell Ash is situated off Hunston Road and providing a collection of 34 private three and four-bedroom homes, in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity was established in the author’s memory by his widow, Dame Felicity Dahl in 1990. It was inspired by his own experience with illness and the support he provided to seriously ill children and families throughout his life.
Today the charity establishes specialist nurses in NHS Trusts, nurses who provide a bespoke, holistic, ‘make things happen’ kind of care and support for children living with some of the most serious and complex lifelong health conditions. More than 200 Roald Dahl Nurses currently care for over 40,000 children across the UK
The donation from Mulberry Homes will support fundraising to provide the specialist and expert care children with complex medical conditions by establishing a Roald Dahl Nurse who will be based in Ipswich Hospital.
These complex needs can make it difficult for families to navigate the healthcare system and establish the best possible care for the child. The Roald Dahl Nurse will change that experience by joining families on their journey, becoming an ally and advocate in hospital and at home, thereby helping families feel more confident and less isolated.
Louise Griew, CEO of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, said: “Families caring for seriously ill children with complex needs are on a complicated journey, often seeing multiple specialists and attending a whole number of appointments across each week or month.
“Our nurses help them navigate that journey providing help to improve the quality and experience of care in a way that can prove transformative to the whole family. We are extremely grateful to have been chosen to receive this donation from Mulberry Homes, which will be hugely beneficial to our work in Suffolk, and hope many other businesses will follow their lead.”
Sophie Leathley, Senior Brand and Marketing Manager at Mulberry Homes, said: “Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity does critical work in Suffolk and across the UK. We are extremely proud to be supporting them and delighted to hear the significant impact our donation will make to seriously ill children in the region. We wish the charity all the best in their future endeavours and thank them for the work they have done so far.”
The donation to Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity comes as part of the homebuilder’s Community Chest initiative, in which charities and public organisations local to Mulberry Homes’ developments are invited to apply to receive a one-off donation of up to £1,000.
Badwell Ash is nestled in idyllic rural Suffolk, allowing residents to enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside without missing out on modern amenities. The development is within easy reach of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk’s ‘foodie capital’, which offers an extensive range of high-quality eateries. In the opposite direction is the bustling market town of Stowmarket, which is home to a traditional market, a creative arts centre and thriving cinema.
