Supporting the communities where we build is at the heart of everything Mulberry Homes does, so we were thrilled to take part in this year's Whissendine Open Gardens event.
Held on Sunday 28 June 2026, the much-loved community event welcomed around 200 visitors, who explored 13 beautiful gardens across the picturesque Rutland village while raising money for local charities.
For the first time, Mulberry Homes opened the professionally designed show home garden at our Whissendine development, demonstrating how thoughtful planting can transform a new-build garden into a welcoming outdoor retreat.
A Mulberry Homes at Whissendine Show Home Garden Designed for Modern Living
Creating a garden from a blank canvas can feel daunting, particularly for buyers moving into a brand-new home. To inspire visitors, Mulberry Homes partnered with the experts at Gates Garden Centre in nearby Oakham to create a garden that homeowners can enjoy throughout the year.
Designed by Gates Garden Centre Plant Concierge, Jodie, the planting scheme combines structure, colour and fragrance to create a beautifully presented garden, which is both practical and easy to maintain.
The carefully selected palette of soft whites, pinks and purples creates a calming and relaxing environment while supporting local wildlife with a range of pollinator-friendly plants.
Key features of the Mulberry Homes show garden include:
Fragrant and colourful lavender to attract bees and butterflies
Evergreen hebes, providing colourful foliage throughout the year
Elegant roses that add colour and scent
Evergreen jasmine climbing the garage to soften the architecture
A balanced planting design that complements the contemporary home
Celebrating Community at Whissendine Open Gardens

Alongside the Open Gardens, visitors enjoyed refreshments at Whissendine Village Hall and garage sales throughout the village, creating a fabulous family day out.
