A family of three from Dunstable have secured their first home at Mulberry Homes’ Manor Heath development in Leighton Buzzard, with the help of the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme.

Danny, 36, and Gabriella Bright, 32, had been wanting to move into their own home for years, with their six-year-old son Roman and cat named Bigglesworth, after renting in the area, but found it difficult to rent and save at the same time.

When the time came to finally move, the young family were able to benefit from the Help to Buy scheme, which allowed them to purchase their brand-new home with just a five per cent deposit.

Gabriella, who works as an Event Sales Manager, said: “We feel so lucky to have got on the property ladder and found this amazing home! Help to Buy was exactly what we needed to help us get the house we wanted, and we found the whole process to be pain free.”

When it came to choosing their ideal home, the couple knew the location of Manor Heath would work best for them.

Gabriella commented: “We love Rushmere Park, and I used to live in Leighton Buzzard at a very young age. We also loved the area surrounding the development, so we thought this was a good fit.

“It is a very convenient location and easily accessible to the town centre, plenty of local schools and parks. I also work in London and like being close to the train station, as it really cuts down on my commute time.”

At Manor Heath, Danny and Gabriella fell in love with The Abbey, a three-bedroom detached house in a light brick colour. The couple purchased the home off-plan, which enabled them to customise their kitchen and pick their flooring before moving in.

Danny, who works as an electrician, said: “We were really happy and felt lucky to be able to buy a detached home, and thought it was an ideal family home for us as there is still plenty of space to grow.

“The home is still so fresh and new, and we love that! We’re most proud of the kitchen – this is where we spend the most time and we felt that the choices that were available for the kitchen were really great. It’s definitely our favourite room!”

“We had a really great experience buying with Mulberry Homes. Our sales consultant, Keelan, was calm, patient and really helpful. The experience felt very easy and manageable for us, and we would definitely recommend the company to family and friends”.

Since moving in, the family have already started to build a network of friends and neighbours to keep them company as they settle into their brand-new home.

Danny added: “We have seen and spoken to a few of our neighbours already, and everyone seems really nice and friendly. We also have an old friend just down the road too, so feel very lucky!”
