We’re delighted to be supporting Green Acres Rural Enterprises

24th November 2020

To mark the opening of our new head office near Rugby, we have donated £200 to Green Acres Rural Enterprises, a local charity selected by Daventry MP Chris Heaton-Harris.

Based in Staverton, Green Acres Rural Enterprises is a community interest company which provides informal education opportunities to primary and secondary school children and their families, and offers continued professional development to teachers.

The charity helps children to learn how to grow, prepare and market food products, gain physical exercise in the countryside and develop useful rural skills which will benefit the younger generation throughout daily life. They also work in partnership with local businesses to facilitate students gaining work experience, and offer them the opportunity to develop a portfolio to take with them to future apprenticeships or employment.

Kerry Jones, our Sales Director, said: “As we settle into our brand-new head office, we are committed to forging and strengthening lasting partnerships with the local community.

“We’re thrilled to have made this donation to Green Acres Rural Enterprises and those who benefit from its services. The pandemic has been especially tough for educational staff and pupils, and we hope these funds will offer a huge helping hand during this difficult time.”

Heather Wilson, at Green Acres Rural Enterprises, said: “As a community-based educational centre who provides places for students who are not in full-time education, as well as a weekly café for the local community, our businesses was affected dramatically at the beginning of lockdown.

“We were able to provide places for the most vulnerable students and quickly set up a system where we cooked and delivered home-made locally produced meals to the elderly and isolated in the local villages around Daventry.

“The donation from Mulberry Homes enabled us to continue this service to keep the elderly as safe as possible in their own homes during the height of the pandemic. The donation has also assisted us in the purchase of a new computerised labelling system for our food.”
