We have donated to Bedfordshire Scouts group Bedfordshire Bees

1st June 2023

We have donated to Bedfordshire Scouts group Bedfordshire Bees, to help in the organisation’s fundraising to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea this August.

Bedfordshire Bees, located near Mulberry Homes’ Clifton Gardens development in Clifton, has selected 36 scouts, aged 14 to 18, to attend the event, allowing them an opportunity of a lifetime to learn about different cultures, religions, cuisines and new scouting skills.

The World Scout Jamboree is run every four years in different countries around the world, and this year more than 50,000 scouts from 167 countries will be attending.

Our donation will help Bedfordshire Bees attend the event in South Korea, purchase the necessary equipment and fund training, such as cooking, fitness and first aid lessons. The Scouts are fundraising for the trip with a goal of £160,000, in order to give members who are from disadvantaged or struggling backgrounds the opportunity to attend.

Amy Clews, Leader of Bedfordshire Bees’ trip to South Korea, said: “Thank you to Mulberry for taking the time to review and consider a donation to the Bedfordshire Bees. The Unit are attending the World Scout Jamboree in Korea in August, however prior to the trip we need to complete training with the 36 young people. This includes things like cooking and food preparation and storage, health and wellbeing sessions, fitness sessions, first aid, mental health first aid and other team building activities to name a few.

“In addition, we need to purchase insurances, uniform, medical supplies, and equipment needed for the event. This generous donation will go towards giving the young people the training they need ahead of their once in a life time adventure!”

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said: “We are delighted to be donating to Bedfordshire Bees and helping with their journey to South Korea for the World Scout Jamboree.

“It is very important for us at Mulberry Homes to give back to the local areas we have developments in, and what better way to do that than by supporting the youngest in our community to go on the trip of a lifetime.”

The donation forms part of Mulberry Homes’ charity campaign, called Quintessentially Community Focused. As part of the scheme, charities and public organisations local to Mulberry Homes’ developments are invited to apply to receive a one-off donation of £1 to £1,000, which can be used to help enhance the local community or environment, or provide a charitable service.
