We have donated bag tags to Leighton Buzzard schoolchildren for Road Safety Week

November 21

In honour of Road Safety Week, we have donated over 100 bag tags to Heathwood Lower School in Leighton Buzzard, helping their pupils to stay safe on the way to and from school.

The bag tags are small, reflective tags in neon colours, which children can clip to their schoolbags. By wearing these tags, pupils are more visible to passing cars, helping them to stay safe nearby busy roads as they walk and cycle between home and school.

Road Safety Week is taking place from Monday, November 15 to Sunday, November 21, and is organised by the charity Brake. This week is the UK’s biggest road safety event, and inspires communities to take action on road safety

The donation comes as we are building a brand-new development nearby in Leighton Buzzard, off Heath Road, called Manor Heath.

Mrs Jackie Wright, Assistant Headteacher at Heathwood Lower School, said: “We encourage the children to walk as much as possible to alleviate traffic problems on our busy local roads and to promote good health. The children were delighted to receive these bag tags, which help them to be seen as they walk to and from school.”

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said: “We are delighted to have donated over 100 specially-made bag tags to Heathwood Lower School, making sure their pupils are staying safe and bright! As winter is now in full swing and the nights are drawing in, it’s more important than ever for schoolchildren to remain visible when walking alongside busy roads.

“Forming lasting partnerships with the local communities where we build our new homes is hugely important to us, and we’re thrilled to be supporting the local school through this donation, as well as raising awareness for road safety. We hope that the children are enjoying their brand-new bag tags, and keeping safe!”
