21st December 2021

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we have donated over £30,000 to local charities and organisations nearby our developments throughout 2021.

The 10-year anniversary campaign saw a different local charity or public organisation selected each month to receive a one-off contribution, putting local communities at the heart of our operations.

The initiative was implemented at all our developments across Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, and has seen a total of thirteen charities receive financial support.

It follows our successful Distinctly Local campaign, in which over £10,000 was donated to charities and independent businesses during 2020.

Charities that received donations include For Men to Talk, Happy Days Children’s Charity, Clophill Heritage Trust and Greensand Country in Bedfordshire and LOROS, Leicester Children’s Hospital Appeal and Macmillan Cancer Support’s Leicestershire and Rutland branch in Leicestershire.

In Oxfordshire, Assisted Reading for Children, ARCh, received a donation, and in Northamptonshire, Northampton Hope Centre. Warwickshire charities that received donations include Warwickshire Vision Support, Warwickshire Hedgehog Rescue and Barnacle Hedgehog Rescue.

The final donation of the year was to the Butterfly Conservation, which has a local branch in each of the counties we operate in.

For Men to Talk founder, Luke Newman, said: “I cannot thank Mulberry Homes enough for this donation to our group. Our mission is to change the perception that men should remain silent in regards to their feelings and with the help of Mulberry Homes, we can change that.”

Lisa Davies, Director of Leicester Hospitals Charity, said: “We are deeply thankful to Mulberry for such a generous contribution to our Leicester Children’s Hospital Appeal. This donation from Mulberry will go a long way to helping us give all our children the hospital they deserve.”

Elaine Adams, Development Manager at ARCh, said: “Thanks to this generous donation of £1,000 from Mulberry Homes, we are able to purchase over 100 beautiful new books for our volunteers to use in their sessions. Thank you, Mulberry Homes, for your consideration of ARCh and the children in this community.”

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said: “We are very proud to have celebrated our 10th anniversary by donating over £30,000 to local communities throughout the year.

“It’s been wonderful contributing to the work and impact of numerous charitable groups by donating funds to those who need it most, especially throughout a particularly challenging year.

“At Mulberry Homes, it is hugely important to us to support charities and organisations local to the areas we build in wherever possible, and leave a lasting legacy behind once our developments have completed.

“We’d like to thank all of the charities we donated to during 2021 for their kindness and appreciation, and we’re looking forward to supporting many more enterprises during 2022 and beyond!”

Following the success of our 10-year campaign, in 2022 we are running a monthly community fund, called The Mulberry Community Chest. As part of the programme, charities and public organisations local to our developments are invited to apply to receive a one-off donation of £1 to £1000. Each month, a judging panel will select a beneficiary to secure the requested funding. For more information or to submit an application, visit https://mulberryhomes.co.uk/news/distinctly-local/.
