Mulberry Homes Tuned in with Donation to Kettering General Hospital Radio

Thanks to our donation, more patients at Kettering General Hospital can now enjoy listening to the on-site radio station with ease.

We have donated eight Bluetooth speakers to Kettering General Hospital (KGH) Radio, which will be put to good use across all wards of the hospital.

After having to close down in 2018 following 50 years of broadcasting, KGH Radio has been back online since last December, with the hospital donating the space for a brand-new studio.

Broadcasting 24/7, with core programming between six and ten o’clock at night, the station is run entirely by a team of unpaid volunteers.

Over the past six months, more and more volunteers have been recruited in a range of roles, such as presenting, technical support and interviewing, with full training being provided by the station.

The donation is part of Mulberry Homes’ Distinctly Local campaign, which aims to support two local charities or organisations each month. The programme has continued throughout the current Coronavirus pandemic, focusing on good causes that can really make a difference to communities adapting to the ‘new normal’.

We’ve been incredibly proud to be able to continue with our Distinctly Local donations during the pandemic.

“It’s been a pleasure to be able to make this donation to KGH Radio and those who benefit from its services. The pandemic has been especially tough for hospital staff and patients, and we hope hearing the radio broadcasts through these speakers will offer a sense of comfort during this time.”

Steve Bellamy, Trustee of KGH Radio, said: “We’re so grateful for Mulberry Homes’ generous donation. Our radio station helps patients feel more at home in their surroundings and hospital staff stay connected to each other, and these speakers will help enormously.

“KGH Radio has been in existence for a very short time, hampered as we have all been by the strange circumstances we find ourselves in. However, we now have a number of new volunteers and are gradually increasing our ‘live’ output, and are working hard to provide the best possible service.”
