We’re launching a Greensand Country cycle competition on social media

We are running a social media competition with the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership this June to encourage sustainable transport, in the form of cycling, across Greensand Country, which covers a large stretch of beautiful Bedfordshire countryside.

Greensand Country is a well-loved landscape defined by the 42-mile-long Greensand Ridge, which runs from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay.

Participants are encouraged to take part by uploading photos of themselves riding their bikes in the area, and tagging us and Greensand Country on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn.

At the end of the month (June), we and the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership, which is led by The Greensand Trust and Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity and is made up of more than 20 partners, who work together to raise awareness of the heritage value of the landscape and to promote Greensand Country, will judge the entries and pick two lucky winners.

The winners will be announced at the beginning of July and each receive a £500 bike from local Leighton Buzzard bike shop, Dorvics. Alongside a brand-new bike, Dorvics are also offering winners one year of free servicing.

Our competition follows the Greensand Country Festival, which has taken place this May and runs into June, that we’re proudly supporting.

The competition forms part of our donation, which will assist Greensand Country in the good work they’re already doing promoting ecological messages and values to people of all ages across the landscape.

Mulberry Homes, said: “We thought this competition would be a fantastic way to encourage more people to explore and enjoy the idyllic landscape of Greensand Country, via sustainable transport methods.

“It truly is a beautiful area, and the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership has been doing fantastic work to make sure that it stays that way.

“We have strong ecological values at Mulberry Homes, and really stand behind what the landscape partnership is doing. The need to protect and appreciate the green space around us is becoming more and more obvious.

“Most of all, we hope that everyone has a great time cycling in the area, and we can’t wait to see all their photos.”

Daniel Bowles, Partnership Coordinator at the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership, said: “We are very pleased to launch the Greensand Country cycle competition in conjunction with Mulberry Homes. Exploring the landscape, whether by bicycle, on foot, or on horseback, has always been a key aim of the Partnership.

“If you’re looking for ideas and inspiration of where to cycle locally, from family-friendly rides to challenging routes for keen cyclists, search our interactive map on the Greensand Country website at https://www.greensandcountry.com/explore/cycle/.”
