This March we will be donating to LOROS, a hospice charity in Leicestershire

We’re delighted to be donating £1000 to LOROS as part of our 10-year anniversary celebration, in which we’ve committed to supporting local charities and organisations nearby to our developments throughout 2021.

LOROS are a Hospice charity caring for over 2,500 people across Leicestershire and Rutland by providing free, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their families and carers, both at the Hospice and in patients’ own homes.

They also work in partnership with higher and further education providers to supply education, training and support to over 2,000 health and social care professionals every year.

Bruce Smith, Supporter Engagement Co-ordinator at LOROS said: “From everyone here at LOROS Hospice, a heartfelt thanks to the team at Mulberry Homes for choosing us to benefit from their 10-year anniversary campaign. The £1000 donated could pay for all of the specialist care delivered here at the Hospice to our loved ones and their families for an entire hour; or it could cover the cost for 2 days’ worth of complimentary therapy, designed to help reduce a patient’s pain and sickness or the anxiety in a patient or their loved ones.

“The continued impact of COVID-19 and a third national lockdown is devastating, and we are facing a £2.3 million loss in raised income across this financial year. Once again, we have had to close the doors of our shops and the ability for us to fundraise within our local community continues to be severely affected. The donation from Mulberry Homes helps us to be here, and to continue to provide care and support for our patients when they need it the most.”

Mulberry Homes, said: “I’m very proud that we’re able to offer such a significant donation to LOROS this March. The current pandemic has been especially challenging for LOROS and the patients and families they care for, with them having to adapt the ways they offer support, close their shops and make the difficult decision to restrict visiting. We hope that this contribution will help them continue to provide their free, essential work at a time where it is more valued than ever.”

Stay tuned to find out how LOROS will be using the funds.
