We’re delighted to be Supporting our Market Reach resident’s Race for Life Fundraiser

Karen Faulkner participated in Cancer Research UK’s 5k Race for Life last Saturday, and we are delighted to donate £50 to take her total fundraising sum over its £500 target.

Karen, 47, and her family moved into their brand-new home at Market Reach, Potton, at the end of February, just before the national lockdown. Having never run before, Karen took up the activity after being inspired by the wonderful countryside surrounding the development.

Karen, who works as a teacher, said: “Market Reach is in a lovely area, with Pegnut Wood directly opposite our home there’s lots of lovely walks for us to go on with our dog. I’d never run before, and looking out over the woodland I just thought ‘ooh, I wonder.’ The woods gave me the perfect opportunity to start running in private and really boosted my confidence, and because it was so secluded there was no pressure on me to keep going if I didn’t enjoy it.

“It was purely down to the development that I started running, it’s much quieter compared to where we were living before, and with lots of woodland and space it seemed like a good idea.

“The sales advisors Charlotte and Faye were always really encouraging too. I run past Market Reach’s sales office on my route and they’d always cheer me on, it was a really nice atmosphere.”

Karen took part in the ‘Very 2020 Race for Life’, where she ran 5k at Houghton Mill – a nearby National Trust campsite. All money raised will go towards Cancer Research UK’s ground-breaking work, and in a year where vital cancer trials had to be delayed, the race was more important than ever.

Commenting on the race, Karen said: “I lost two family members to cancer last year. I wanted to have a goal; I was keen to run 5k anyway so I thought participating in the Race for Like would be the perfect way to raise money and awareness for the cause.”

Kerry Jones, Sales Director at Mulberry Homes, said: “We’re thrilled to have made this donation to Karen; raising over £500 for Cancer Research UK is an incredible achievement and we’re delighted to be a part of it.

“As part of our Distinctly Local campaign, we are committed to strengthening, and forging lasting partnerships with, the communities local to our developments. We’ve been incredibly proud to be able to continue with our donations during the pandemic.”

Market Reach, on Biggleswade Road, is situated on the edge of rural countryside, within the Greensand Reach Nature Improvement Area, providing residents with homes in a beautiful setting and acres of outdoor space, idyllic woodlands and nature trails, making it the perfect place to enjoy countryside living.
