Our Developments Dig Deep for Lutterworth Foodbank Donation

Several of our sites, including our flagship Kingsbury Park development in Lutterworth, have donated over £200 worth of food and household items to Lutterworth & Villages Foodbank as part of our Distinctly Local 2020 vision.

Staff and visitors at Kingsbury Park, Heathcote Grange in Great Bowden and our Head Office in Creaton collected a range of long-life food and drink items, as well as often-overlooked household goods such as laundry detergent, nappies and deodorant, for the benefit of the foodbank’s service users.

Lucy Freeman, Project Manager for Lutterworth & Villages Foodbank, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Mulberry Homes for organising this very generous donation of 159kg of food and household items for our foodbank. As each three-day emergency food parcel we donate to our clients in need weighs approximately 10 kilograms per person, the items from Mulberry Homes’ staff, residents and customers will make a hugely positive and practical difference for a significant number of our clients.”

Our Managing Director, Ian Sadler, said: “A key element of our Distinctly Local 2020 vision is our commitment to strengthening, and forging lasting partnerships with, the communities local to our developments. It’s a pleasure to be able to make this donation towards Lutterworth & Villages Foodbank and those who benefit from its services, and we hope the items will offer a helping hand to those in need.”

“Distinctly Local – Strengthening and Connecting Communities” is our new commitment to sustainability, influencing how we select new development sites, design and build our homes and interact with our customers, neighbours and local partners.

The initiative, which has recently been implemented at several of our developments across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire, will see a selection of local organisations and charities chosen to receive practical and financial support in the form of collaborations or donations. Lutterworth & Villages Foodbank provides three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people referred to their service in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, who are working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. The project is facilitated by St. Mary’s Church, Lutterworth, and supported by other local churches, schools, community groups, organisations and businesses – all working together towards stopping hunger in the area.
