OUR KEY WORKERS SCHEME LENDS A HELPING HAND TO FIRST-TIME BUYERS

A Leicestershire couple has reserved their first home together earlier than they’d anticipated at our Kingsbury Park development in Lutterworth, thanks to our recently launched Key Workers Scheme.

Daniel Day, 26, a head chef from Loughborough, and his São Paulo-born girlfriend Stephanie Campos Geller, 23, had decided to settle in Lutterworth after hearing positive reports of the Leicestershire town’s transport links, atmosphere and community feel. With Stephanie recently starting a new teaching job in Northampton and Daniel living with his family in Loughborough, the couple felt that Lutterworth offered an ideal mid-point.

Having looked around our Kingsbury Park show home, the couple fell in love with the development and reserved their three bedroom Beacon home shortly afterwards, with a move-in date of mid-November.

Daniel explained: “We loved the open-plan layout of our home immediately, especially the good-sized lounge and extra bedroom space. Stephanie’s family will be able to stay in one of the bedrooms when they visit from Brazil, and we’re planning to use the spare bedroom as an office or even a dressing room.”

The couple had been saving for their first home together with the aid of a Help to Buy ISA, cutting back on luxuries in order to afford their deposit. Stephanie’s occupation as a teacher additionally made the couple eligible for our bespoke Key Workers Scheme, which offers £500 for every £20,000 spent on a Mulberry Home. These contributions can be made towards Stamp Duty, a flooring package, a specification upgrade, or legal, survey or mortgage broker fees.

Available to staff from the emergency services, schools, hospitals, doctors’ surgeries and the armed forces, the scheme meant that Stephanie and Daniel were able to save substantially on several aspects of their move.

Daniel added: “Help to Buy was invaluable in allowing us to save just a 5% deposit and purchase our home sooner, but we didn’t imagine that Mulberry Homes’ Key Workers Scheme would also benefit us as much as it has.

“The scheme’s contributions have saved us in the region of £3,500 and have gone towards our solicitors’ fees, flooring and a dishwasher!”

Daniel concluded: “We found the Sales Advisors at Kingsbury Park really approachable from the start – their no-pressure approach allowed us to go through the reservation process at our own pace and we weren’t pushed to provide documents by a certain date, which kept the experience stress-free.

“The team have always been available to provide us with updates and have kept us informed at every stage of the process. We’re really grateful to Mulberry Homes for all their help and we’d absolutely recommend them to any first-time buyers, especially those who could benefit from the Key Workers Scheme.”
