OUR KEY WORKERS SCHEME PROVIDES A BOOST FOR FIRST-TIME BUYERS

A police officer from Leicester and his Northants-based fiancée have been able to reserve their first home far earlier than planned, thanks to our recently launched Key Workers Scheme.

When Sam David (21) and Jessica May (20) visited the show home at our Kingsbury Park development in Lutterworth, they didn’t imagine they would be in a position to reserve a Mulberry Home – or indeed any property – so soon.

With Sam currently living with his parents in Lutterworth and Jessica based in Daventry with hers, settling close to both families was essential for the couple. Whilst driving around several new homes developments across South Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire, Sam and Jessica noticed the Help to Buy logo on our Kingsbury Park sign and were instantly drawn to the development.

On visiting our show home, the couple’s desire to become Mulberry homeowners was confirmed and, after talking through their situation with our Sales Advisor Sally, they took their first step onto the property ladder by reserving their two bedroom Stanton home there and then.

Sam, who works as a police officer in Warwickshire, explained: “We’d spoken to a few housebuilders and we found Mulberry a lot more understanding than others, with none of the pushiness we’d experienced previously. The Sales Advisors realised it would take us a while to save for our deposit and were very accommodating – they even accepted our request for a February move-in date instead of the January date originally suggested.

“The Stanton was the ideal fit for us as first-time homeowners. In addition to its size, we especially liked the bay window and the adjacent parking spaces.”

The couple had been saving for their first home together with the aid of a Lifetime ISA. Sam’s job as a police offer additionally made the couple eligible for our bespoke Key Workers Scheme, which offers £500 for every £20,000 spent on one of our homes. These contributions can be made towards Stamp Duty, a flooring package, a specification upgrade, or legal, survey or mortgage broker fees.

Available to staff from the emergency services, schools, hospitals, doctors’ surgeries and the armed forces, the scheme meant that Sam and Jessica were able to bring forward their dream of securing a home.

Sam added: “We’d known for a while that Help to Buy would make a huge difference by allowing us to buy our home with just a 5% deposit, but we hadn’t heard of Mulberry’s Key Workers Scheme until the Sales Advisors explained its advantages. The practical support of the scheme is helping to make owning our own home a reality far sooner than we’d hoped to imagine.”

Sam concluded: “The whole process has gone incredibly smoothly so far – all our questions have been answered instantly and the Sales Advisors have been so responsive and flexible. We can’t wait until February when we can meet our new neighbours and enjoy making our home our own.

““We still can’t believe the difference the Key Workers Scheme has made financially and we’d definitely encourage those who are eligible to check it out. We would absolutely recommend Mulberry Homes to anyone starting out in homeownership.”

Located off Coventry Road in Lutterworth, our Kingsbury Park development currently offers a selection of three and four bedroom homes in the sought-after Leicestershire market town. With Warwickshire and Northampton close by, the development is ideal for commuters and prospective homeowners from across the South Midlands.
